Deaths Sharon Madsen
Sharon (Peterson) Madsen, formerly of Vermillion, died Sept. 1, 1998 in Scottsdale, AZ, after a brief illness.
She was born in Vermillion on Jan. 8, 1941 at Dakota Hospital. She was a salesperson for many years.
Survivors include her husband Bill Madsen of Scottsdale; two children, Pam Dougherty of Evanston, WY, and Randy Chamberlain of Riverton, WY; six grandchildren; two sisters, Melva Wastlund and Ruby Martinson of Vermillion; and a brother, Bob Peterson of Sioux Falls.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Ragna Peterson, and a brother, James Peterson.
Services were held Sept. 4 in Scottsdale.
Hannah Rasmussen
Private services will be held for Hannah Mary Rasmussen, 101, who died in Capitola, CA, on Sunday, Sept. 2, 1998 at a local convalescent hospital.
She was born and raised in Vermillion, where she graduated from high school. In 1936 she moved to Capitola, where she raised her family.
She was a member of Sons of Norway and enjoyed playing cards, crocheting and cooking.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Arthur Rasmussen; and by her daughter, Arline Aluffi.
She is survived by her son, Arthur Dale Rasmussen, Santa Cruz, CA; her daughters Ardilla Camarlinghi of Soquel, CA, and Ann Elliot of San Diego, CA; her sister Mabel Jorgenson of Vermillion; 15 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
A private family graveside service will be held. Norman's Family Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Interment will be at Soquel Cemetery.
