Girls basketball team loses to S.F. Lincoln On Sept. 13, the VHS girls basketball team lost to Sioux Falls Lincoln with a score of 63-68 after a victory over Beresford on Sept. 8.
Leading scorers in the game against Lincoln were Amanda Iverson, 24 points; Shorey Tuetken, 22 points; and Kathy Plate, Sarah Mollet and Melissa O'Connor, 4 points each.
Leading in rebounds were Iverson, with 12, and Mollet with 5. O'Connor and Tuetken each had six assists.
Vermillion defeated Beresford by a score of 61-37. Iverson scored 24 points and made 12 rebounds. Mollet scored 11 points and made 5 rebounds.
Tuetken scored 9 points and made 6 assists. Heine scored 6 points, and O'Connor scored 5 points and caught 7 rebounds. Laura Burcham scored 4 points, and Jackie Powell scored 2 points and made 5 assists.
In both games, the team played well offensively, said Coach Doug Tuetken.
"We began to hit perimeter shots and showed some patience with offense," Tuetken said.
He was also impressed with the progression of Mollet.
The team will continue working on improving its rebounding records, especially while playing offense.
There will be a game Sept. 22 at Alcester-Hudson.
