VHS freshmen shut-out Canton C-Hawks 37-0 Last Thursday in Vermillion, the freshman Tanagers defeated the Canton C-Hawks by a score of 37-0.
Vermillion's first score came in the first quarter and was a 7-yard touchdown run by Eric Richord. The 2-point conversion was caught by Cory Beach.
During the second quarter, Vermillion scored two more times. The first was a 23-yard touchdown run by Kris Hoffman, with Brett Mockler catching the 2-point conversion. The second touchdown in the quarter was a 4-yard touchdown run by Thad Roche, with Clint Christensen catching the 2-point conversion.
Vermillion scored in the third quarter on an 8-yard Roche run. The extra point was blocked.
The final touchdown came off a Hoffman 15-yard run, with Hoffman kicking the extra point to put Vermillion up 37-0.
Defensively for Vermillion, Dave Hanson led all tacklers with 17, followed by Roche 12, Casey Gale 7, Clint Christensen 7, Ray O'Conner 5, and Hoffman 4.
