VHS students prepare for next week's Homecoming by David Lias Students at Vermillion High School are inviting the community to join with them as they celebrate Homecoming next week with a variety of activities.
Activities that will kick off T-Week include girls basketball, boys and girls cross country, junior varsity football, boys golf and girls tennis. Also, on Thursday, Sept. 24, at 7:30 p.m., the coronation of this year's royalty will be held in the gym.
This year's candidates are: Laura Gors, Gina Leber, Molly Meyers, Carolyn O'Connor, Jackie Reinke and Megan Tolsma. The king candidates are Nick Hovden, Zeb Lang, Nick Mayer, Jay Merrigan, James Ofstehage, and Weston Olson.
Following coronation, the cheer squad invites everyone to the burning of the "V" and pep rally which will take place near the tennis courts. Immediately following the ceremony is a reception for royalty and their family members in the school library.
An assembly and pep rally will begin at 1:30 p.m., and at 7 p.m. the Tanager football team will face Lennox in the DakotaDome. The VHS marching band and flag corps will provide half-time entertainment. The homecoming dance will immediately follow the game at the high school. All parents and alumni are invited and encouraged to attend.
