Winners named in Gatorade competition More than 20 participants took part in the NFL Gatorade Punt, Pass and Kick competition hosted by the Vermillion Jaycees on Sept. 13 at 2 p.m.
These youngsters earned honors in their respective age groups: Ages 8/9 — Jesse Kirkpatrick, first place, 163.5 feet; second place, Broc Gauer, second place, 162 feet; Kelly Badhand, third place, 159 feet.
Ages 10/11 — Ben Oberle, first place, 205 feet; Chris LeRoy, second place, 176 feet; Justin Roetman, third place, 174 feet.
Ages 12/13 — Sean Pederson, first place, 212 feet; Matthew Preszler, second place, 152 feet. (All totals are the cumulative total of one punt, one pass and one kick.)
The three winners will now move on to a sectional competition, to be held Oct. 4. in Hartford.
They could qualify for the Team Championship competition, to be held in NFL stadiums in November and December.
