Young actors needed for USD's The Innocents USD Theatre seeks two dynamic young people to play significant speaking roles in its production of The Innocents, a ghost story by William Archibald.
The action of the play centers around Miles and Flora, precocious orphans who are living in the family's English country house in the 1880s under the supervision of a family maid and a governess.
Mystery and terror surface, however, as we learn that the children have been under the negative influence of two former household servants who are deceased but reappear as ghosts.
The governess works with the children to dispel the delusions and memories that have corrupted them. The Innocents is a stage adaptation of The Turn of the Screw, a classic of American fiction by Henry James.
Youth auditions will be Saturday, Sept. 19 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in Theatre I of the Warren M. Lee Center for the Fine Arts. Young people wishing to audition for Flora should be able to pass for an 8-12 year old, and those auditioning for Miles should be in the 10-14 year old range.
