Laptop computers donated to Speech/Language Dept. The local Sertoma Club has made the teaching efforts of the Speech/Language Therapy Department of the Vermillion Public Schools much easier.
The Sertomans, which stands for "Service to Mankind," presented to pathologists Janet Hoff and Karen Ferris two Gateway laptop computers.
The need for these computers first came to the attention of the Sertoma Club in December. Hoff and Ferris visited one of the meetings and presented the need. Due to the fact that the national emphasis of Sertoma is to those members of our society with speech and hearing difficulties, this opportunity was welcomed.
According to Hoff, these computers will be used for the many reports, daily logs, and programs that have to be kept on each of the students. They will also be used in the individual education program that will be established that will give them an on-going evaluation of each and every student.
"They are wonderful computers and we are very appreciative of the Sertoma Club for their wonderful and much needed gifts," Hoff said.
"We are delighted, as a group, to reach out to those in our community who are in need of assistance due to hearing or speech impairment," said Sertoma President John Mueller.
