Nebraska-Omaha hands South Dakota 29-7 loss; USD at SDSU next Saturday Nebraska-Omaha held South Dakota to 102 yards in total offense en route to a 29-7 win over the Coyotes last Saturday in the DakotaDome. USD fell to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the North Central Conference. The Coyotes will travel to South Dakota State next Saturday to face a Jackrabbit team that has lost three straight.
The Mavericks ground out 327 yards rushing against the Coyotes, while USD managed only 62 yards. Overall, UNO had 358 yards in total offense and 18 first downs. USD had four first downs, including one in the second half.
South Dakota jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead on Brian Litecky's 48-yard touchdown run and Adam Hicks extra point with 12:20 showing in the first quarter. However, Nebraska-Omaha proceeded to score 29 unanswered points. The two teams combined for 15 punts and 20 penalties.
Litecky led the Coyotes with 33 yards rushing and Jamel White had 27. Litecky completed one of three passes for three yards, while Peter Martin connected on three of nine for 37 yards. Philip Wilson paced the USD defense with 15 tackles and Matt Chatham had 14 stops, including a quarterback sack. Devin Harvey, Jared Pospisil and Brad Worth were in on nine tackles apiece. Harvey had a 16-yard interception return.
