Tests offered to juniors The Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) for juniors will be administered on Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 8:30 a.m. Cost is $10. Some sophomores should consider taking the PSAT and should stop by the Vermillion High School Guidance Office.
The PSAT/NMSQT measures verbal reasoning, critical reading, math problem-solving and writing skills students have developed over many years, both in and out of school. The PSAT/NMSQT gives students the opportunity to practice for the SAT 1: Reasoning Test, enter scholarship competitions, seek information from colleges, and get feedback about critical academic skills.
Before taking the test, students will receive a student bulletin containing a complete test with an answer key and scoring instructions. In December, students will receive a report of answers and their test booklets to help them interpret their test results and to plan for college.
