USD cross-country team first at Minnesota South Dakota's cross-country team took first place at the University of Minnesota Invitational held Saturday in Minneapolis. The Coyotes scored 95 points. In the 31-team field, North Dakota State was second with 100 points and Mankato State was third with 110 points. The USD women finished ninth with 309 points. St. Olaf was first with 150 points. South Dakota competes in the NCC Pre-Regional this Saturday in Aberdeen.
Matt Hoyt, who was named the North Central Conference Athlete of the Week, led South Dakota placing second in 25:34. Noah Randles was 17th in 26:25, followed by Mike Gade, 20th, 26:29; Joel Fenske, 27th, 26:41; Jason Probasco, 29th, 26:43; David Farnsworth, 59th, 27:16; and Mark Nelson, 88th, 27:47. Stefanie Senn paced the USD women finishing fifth in 18:31. Tina Fenske was 11th in 18:44, followed by Jennifer Carpenter, 44th, 19:20; Aimee Dunlop, 60th, 19:36; and Patricia Goertz, 189th.
