DARE Report Last week the students learned that there are alternative activities to drug use that are interesting and rewarding. These activities build the social needs that everyone is looking for: the need to have people care about you and for you to care about others, the need to be accepted and treated with respect and dignity, and the need to be noticed for the things you do. These needs are important in building not only our self esteem but also our self image.
This week the students were able to meet with high school leaders who do not use drugs. These students serve as "role models' and are looked up to by the younger students. The students will be able to identify ways that the role models have succeeded in avoiding drug use.
Next week the students will learn about gang and group violence. The students will learn different techniques that they can use to avoid becoming involved.
