Tanager JV tames Harrisburg Tigers by David Lias The VHS JV basketball Tanagers shot down the Harrisburg Tigers 57-31 in girls basketball Oct. 23 at Harrisburg.
"This was a hard-fought win for our kids," said Vermillion JV Coach Kelly Fischbach. "The officials called things real close and our kids had trouble adjusting, especially the first half. We did come out and play our game the second half and put things out of reach."
The Tanager JV led 11-3 after the opening period, went into the locker room up 25-17 at halftime, and then led 40-25 after the third period.
Vermillion JV improved its season mark to 13-2. The Tanager JV had several fine individual efforts in the victory.
"We were missing some players at the varsity level, which affected the number of quarters our usual JV kids were able to play," Coach Fischbach said. "We missed Kathy Plate (out due to the state cross country meet). Tessa Tuetken, an eighth-grader, came up and gave us some quality minutes in her first JV action."
