Clay County project receives federal funds Senator Tom Daschle has announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Department of Rural Development has awarded over $780,000 in assistance to community projects in Clay County, Kimball and on the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe reservation.
"The further development of our rural communities is a critical component of South Dakota's economic growth, and I am pleased that USDA has agreed to offer support to these worthwhile South Dakota projects," Daschle said.
Daschle said the following South Dakota projects received funding:
Clay County Rural Water Systems, Inc. was awarded a $214,000 loan and a $105,000 grant to upgrade Clay County's rural water system.
The Prairie View Retirement, Inc., Kimball was approved for a $145,000 loan to construct a four-room addition to the assisted living center.
The Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe was also awarded a $320,000 loan to purchase a portable cement truck and needed equipment.
