Deaths Betty A. Donohoe
Betty A. (Goeken) Donohoe, 58, of Vermillion, died Saturday, Dec. 12 at her home.
Betty A. Goeken was born Feb. 21, 1940 at Wynot, NE to Otto and Elizabeth (Kast) Goeken. She married Don Donohoe on April 24, 1971 at Escalon, CA.
Betty left Wynot with her family at a young age. She graduated from high school in California in 1958. After getting married, she moved with her husband to the Vermillion area in 1971. She worked at The University of South Dakota part time before becoming the secretary at St. Agnes Catholic Church from 1986�1993. She then worked at the school of education for a time, before becoming the secretary for the physical therapy department at the university. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, Don, of Vermillion; a son, Dan Donohoe, Sioux Falls; four brothers, Ray Goeken, San Jose, CA; Don Goeken, Mina, NV; Ralph Goeken, Auburn, CA; and Larry Goeken, Cle Elum, WA; and one sister, Diane Goeken, Escalon, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Jim.
Funeral Mass was at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Vermillion, with Father Donald Imming officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Vermillion. Visitation was at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Hansen Funeral Home, Vermillion. A prayer service was held at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at St. Agnes Catholic Church.
Lamoine George Mincks, 80, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998 in Sutter General Hospital in Sacramento, CA.
He was born in Gayville on May 9, 1918 to Ray and Ruth (Browning) Mincks. He married Ann Iga in Yankton. They lived in Yankton and the rural Gayville area. He worked as a farm hand, and as a mechanic at the Chevy garage in Yankton.
They moved to Sacramento where he worked for Geer Chevrolet until he retired. He was a member of the Sacramento Moose Lodge #255.
Survivors include his wife, Ann, three sons, William, Timothy and Daniel; and two daughters, Mary Kay and Debra Ann, all of Sacramento; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, three brothers: Kenneth of Wasaw, MO, Darryl of Sacramento, CA, and Gary of Vermillion. Seven sisters: Lorrine Harkness, Wichita, KS; Deloris Clarke, Blairsville, GA; Opal Johnson, Omaha, NE; Betty Cogdill, Rogue River, OR; Helen Kudlacek, Valley Park, MO; Inez Nielson, Burbank; and Marjorie Nickell, Humboldt, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Caroline and two brothers, Leo and Clifford.
Kathryn J. Monson
Kathryn J. Monson, 61, of Parkston, died Thursday, Dec. 10, 1998 at her home in Parkston.
Memorial service was held Saturday, Dec. 12, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Parkston.
Kathryn J. Monson was born March 12, 1937 to Lee and Amy (Nelson) Millage at Vermillion. She attended and graduated from Vermillion High School in 1955.
She married Charles Monson on June 16, 1956 in Vermillion. They moved to Kansas City and Witchita, KS, prior to moving to Parkston in 1961. She founded the SASSY Investment Club in Parkston and was a well known seamstress.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Charles Monson; six children; Tim Monson and wife, Jenni, Fargo, ND; Marci Goehring and husband, Brooks, Bozeman, MT; Brenda Sturgeon and husband, Lyle, Tyndall; Mark Monson and wife, Sonya, Lawrenceburg, IN; Rob Monson and wife, Angie, Parkston; and Ericka Ronnings and husband, Patrik, Maple Grove, MN; one brother; five sisters and ten grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two brothers.
A memorial fund has been established on Kathryn's behalf for the Kathryn Monson Nurses' Scholarship Fund. Memorials would greatly be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
