Deaths Eunice Anna May Hult

Eunice Anna May Olson was born May 7, 1916 in Clay County on the same homestead where her father was born, to parents Charles and Anna (Lindstrom) Olson, who were both of Swedish descent, and entered into death on Nov. 20, 1998 at the Bethesda Nursing Home in Beresford at the age of 82 years, six months, and 13 days.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Nov. 25, 1998 at Dalesburg Baptist Church, rural Beresford, with the Rev. John Wilzewske officiating.

Interment was in Dalesburg Baptist Church Cemetery, rural Beresford.

Eunice attended and graduated from the Marshalltown School in Garfield Township, Clay County. She then worked as a housekeeper for several neighborhood families. She was united in marriage to Oliver J. Hult on Jan. 25, 1934 at the Richard Anselius and Goldie M. (Vennard) Hult home. The couple was married for 64 1/2 years. They lived in rural Clay County where Eunice stayed very busy as a farmer's wife.

Eunice was baptized at and was a member of the Dalesburg Baptist Church in rural Beresford. She was also a member of the Dalesburg Scandinavian Association and the Tri-County Extension Club. Her hobbies and interests included knitting, baking and visiting with friends and relatives over coffee.

Eunice was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Milton O. Hult.

Among those who survive and gratefully shared her life are her husband Oliver Hult of Beresford; her daughter, Nada Landeen of Sioux Falls; four grandsons: Vern P. Landeen and his wife Darla and their children Ana, Ian, and Ty of Perham, MN, Neal J. Landeen and his wife Laurie and their children Glen, Ryan, Kelly, and Kyle of Sioux Falls, Jon M. Hult and his wife Mechelle and their children Erika and Austen of Maryville, TN, and Steven M. Hult and his wife Lisa of Hill Air Force Base, UT; her brother Arnold V. Olson and his wife Mirva of Yuma, AZ, and her sister Signie Knudson of Portland, OR.

Emelia (Milly) Miller

Emelia (Milly) Lundgrin Miller, 72, of Sioux Falls, died Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998 at her residence.

Emelia was born Nov. 14, 1926 at Dante, to Fred and Mary (Tilleman) Lundgrin. She moved to Miller and later to Irene in 1929.

She grew up in Irene and graduated from Irene Consolidated School. She later moved to Sioux Falls.

She married Burnell Miller Nov. 2, 1946 at Parker.

She worked in sales at Sears and Montgomery Wards Drapery for 15 years. She was a member of East Side Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls.

She is survived by her husband, Burnell, son, Robert L. Miller of San Jose, CA, one daughter, Mrs. James (Pattie) Person of Sioux Falls, four grandchildren; Chad, Michael, Wendy and Greg, three great-grandchildren; Tryston, Hunter and Charis, one sister Irene Evenson of Sioux Falls.

Her parents, two brothers Edwin and Ruben and one sister Lydia Lawyer preceded her in death.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, at Hansen Funeral Home in Irene. Burial followed in the Hillcrest Cemetery at Irene.

Visitation with family present was from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a prayer service beginning at 7 p.m. at the Hansen Funeral Home.

Hansen Funeral Home, Irene, was in charge of arrangements.

Marjorie C. Peterson

Marjorie C. Peterson, 73, of Irene, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998 at Avera McKennan Hospice in Sioux Falls.

Marjorie Mikkelson was born March 28, 1925 in Yankton County to Walter and Matilda (Evenson) Mikkelson.

She grew up in the Irene area and attended Turkey Valley Country School and graduated from Irene High School in 1942.

She married Duane Peterson on March 16, 1946.

She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Irene and the Calvary WELCA.

She was employed by Western Surety in Sioux Falls, Dakota Industries in Irene and Beresford also Sunset Manor in Irene for the past 17 years. She retired in June of 1998.

She was very devoted to her family and grandchildren; they were very important to her.

She is survived by her husband Duane, one son Bruce and wife Janice of Sioux Falls, five daughters, Cynthia Hines; Mrs. John (Sheila) Healy both of Sioux Falls; Mrs John (Janelle) Brockmueller of Irene; Mrs. Charlie (Michelle) Gholl and Mrs. Tracey (Kimberly) Thie both of Minneapolis, MN; one brother Charles Mikkelson of Oklahoma City, OK; three sisters, Madelyn Rist of Borger, TX; Lois Smith of Van Nuys, CA; and Gloria Chester of Phoenix, AZ also 11 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters Phyllis and Eunice.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Irene. Burial followed in the Rosehill Cemetery at Viborg.

Visitation was from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, with prayer service beginning at 7 p.m. at the Hansen Funeral Home in Irene. Family was present from 7 to 8 p.m.

Hansen Funeral Home, Irene, was in charge of arrangements.

Margie D. Simonsen

Margie D. Simonsen, 72, of Viborg, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Margie Doreen Johnson was born June 12, 1926 near Viborg to Carl and Alice (Nielsen) Johnson. She graduated from Viborg High School in 1944.

She married Allen Simonsen on Nov. 11, 1944 at Yankton.

She worked at the Lennox Nursing Home as a dietician and certified nurses aid for 18 years.

She is survived by her husband Allen, seven sons: Ordell and wife Joan of Viborg, Galin and wife Charlotte of Hurley, Dale and wife Melanie of Parker, Kenard and wife Joyce of Chancellor, Steven and wife Ranae of Sioux Falls, Kevin and wife Candie of Hurley, Todd and wife Lisa of Viborg; five daughters: Mrs. Jerry (Diana) Sodemann of Viborg, Mrs. Walt (Debra) Weber of Emery, Roxanne Ragle of Viborg, Mrs. Harlan (Sherrie) Fisher of Worthing, Mrs. Mick (CaraLee) Miller of Viborg and also 43 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Her parents, two sisters, Ruby Lehr and Viola Johnson preceded her in death.

Funeral services were at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at Spring Valley Lutheran Church rural Viborg. Burial followed in the Carlson Cemetery, rural Viborg.

Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with a prayer service beginning at 7 p.m. at the Hansen Funeral Home in Irene. Family was present from 7 to 8 p.m.

Lucille Agnes Walsh

Lucille Agnes Walsh was born on Nov. 8, 1915 in Vermillion to Lawrence and Mary Houlton. She died on Nov. 6, 1998 in Santa Ana, CA, due to complications of emphezema. Lucy was the last of her family generation.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill and one son, Dan. She is survived by three daughters: Kathy Walsh of Irvine, CA; Mary Pat Bixler of Sioux Falls; and Jan (Mike) Antone of Kapaa, HI; one son, Ken (Reta) of Raleigh, NC; 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Special nieces include Sally Gilbertson of Meckling, Mary Burggraff of Sioux Falls, and Anne Moritz of Azusa, CA.

She was a member of the St. Agnes Court of Catholic Daughters. Lucille was a fantastic wife, mother, aunt and friend. She was a woman of tremendous faith. A memorial Mass was celebrated on Nov. 13, in Raleigh, NC. She is at rest along her husband and son. Lucy was a wonderful family history story teller. She will be missed, but in her family's hearts forever.
