VHS Students of the Month announced Weston Olson and Kendra Korte were recently announced as Vermillion High School Students of the Month for November. This program is sponsored by First National Bank in Vermillion and it recognizes VHS seniors who reflect excellence in their academics and activities.
Olson has been active in soccer, jazz band and concert choir. He was a drum major for the Pride of Vermillion Marching Band and he is also the principal clarinet in the Symphonic Band. "Weston has done these things with leadership, professionalism, maturity, care and grace," according to his faculty nomination. Olson plans to major in biology, business or music in college. His parents are Thomas and Sharon Olson.
"Kendra is a simply delightful student," sums up Korte's teacher endorsement. Her academic excellence of 4.0 GPA is balanced by a long list of activities including swing choir, drama club, National Honor Society, band, chorus, math club and Natural Helpers. Additional interests include reading, travel, history and writing. Her parents are Leon and Solveig Korte, and her future plans are currently to become an author or a teacher.
