CNS provides coverage of legislative session Readers of the Vermillion Plain Talk and the Wakonda Times will get specialized, first-hand coverage of the 1999 South Dakota Legislature through the Community News Service.
CNS is a reporting network of weekly newspapers throughout the state. The service is offered through the South Dakota Newspaper Association in Brookings.
Covering the activities of the legislative session, which began Jan. 12 and wraps up March 6, will be reporters Andrea Skalland and Jaimi Reimer.
Legislators will return to Pierre for one day on March 23 for consideration of gubernatorial vetoes.
Skalland, from Brandon, is a senior journalism major from South Dakota State University in Brookings.
Reimer, from Chamberlain, is a senior agricultural journalism major.
The reporting team will be supervised by Susan Smith, SDNA publications manager.
In addition to providing a weekly vote record, the news team will provide stories about District 17 that will be of interest to Vermillion Plain Talk and Wakonda Times readers.
