Coyote women fall to St. Cloud State and Minnesota State South Dakota (1-8 NCC, 5-13 overall) looks to get back on the winning trail this week against Nebraska-Omaha and Northern Colorado after dropping road games Friday and Saturday to St. Cloud St. (75-58) and Minnesota St. (63-54).
South Dakota trailed St. Cloud State, 43-32, at halftime and was outscored, 32-26, in the second half. The Coyotes hit 17 of 51 from the field for 33.3 percent, and USD was outrebounded, 41-34. Bethany Koehler was the lone Coyote in double figures with 13 points and a team-high six rebounds. Maegan Prickett had nine points and Katrina Merrill had eight. Alissa Koronkiewicz finished with seven points with six apiece for Amy Heismeyer and Kelly Gese.
The Coyotes outshot Minnesota State hitting 39.2 percent compared to 38.2 for the Mavericks. And, USD held a 37-34 rebounding edge. However, MSU converted eight of 21 three-pointers and USD was 2-for-10. USD rallied in the second half. After facing a 16-point deficit at 59-43 with 4:35 remaining, USD came within 59-53 with 54 seconds left.
