Eighth-grade boys place third in tourney The Vermillion eighth-grade boys basketball team (4-3) traveled to Beresford on Saturday, Jan. 23 for their Community Ed. Tourney where they finished in third place, losing to Beresford 39-29 in the first round coming back to beat Lennox 49-25 in the consolation match. A slow start in the second half against Beresford got the Tanagers down by 15 going into the fourth quarter and they never recovered. Leading scorers: Nick Thompson-11, Jon Brooks-6.

Against Lennox, Vermillion got off to a quick start and kept it rolling throughout the game. Leading scorers: Nick Olson-17, Thompson-10, Rob Schaack-8, Jeff Brevik-5, Brooks-5 and Drew Lawrence-3.
