Freshmen overpower Parkston The VHS freshmen boys basketball team overpowered Parkston 41-24 in boys basketball Dec. 28 at Tyndall in the first round of the Bon Homme Tournament in a win keyed by an 18-4 second quarter margin.
This was the Tanager Freshmen team's second game of the season. The VHS freshmen team had a record of 2-0 following the game, while Parkston freshmen fell 2-1.
Vermillion's Dave Hanson had 10 points and Thad Roche had 12 points.
The freshmen Tanagers fell behind 9-7 after the first quarter, went into the locker room up 25-13 at halftime, and then led 30-21 after the third period.
"We came out after a long Christmas break and played a very sound game both offensively and defensively," said VHS Freshmen Team Coach Devin Schwiesow.
