Local officials to gather in Pierre Township board members and small town council members are invited to participate in the annual South Dakota Association of Towns and Townships Legislative Day, Thursday, Jan. 28. The morning will be spent attending committee meetings and visiting with the legislators. Committee agendas are available in the information room near the north entrance to the Capitol.
A reception for the senators and representatives, Constitutional officers, and pages will be held in the House and Senate lobbies from 2:30 p.m. – 4 p.m.
"The annual Legislative Day provides an opportunity for local officials to gather as a group in Pierre and visit with the legislators about issues of concern to local governments," said Dale Metter, president of SDATAT.
Issues of interest to members of SDATAT include funding for state and local roads in South Dakota. Metter says there is a crucial need in some of our townships and small towns for additional funding to maintain the infrastructure needed by the citizens of those areas.
