Trial delayed for arson case The trial of a Wakonda fireman charged with entering and starting a fire in a Wakonda church rectory has been further delayed.
The trial for George "Al" Davis was originally set for last month, but lab work on evidence was not completed. The trial was rescheduled for last week at the Clay County Courthouse in Vermillion.
State's Attorney Tami Bern is still waiting for the results on forensic evidence she needs for prosecution, however.
Davis is charged with second-degree arson and first-degree burglary. He also faces alternative third-degree arson and burglary charges.
Bern said the trial date will be set today (Friday, Jan. 29).
