USD men first, women third at Wisconsin-Stevens Point South Dakota's swimming and diving team qualified athletes to the NCAA Division II national meet after the two-day Wisconsin-Stevens Point Invitational Friday and Saturday. The USD men won the meet with 979 points and the Coyote women were third with 682 points. The national meet is March 10-13 in Buffalo, NY.
The Coyotes, who compete in the NCC meet February 18-20, qualified all three divers in Shad Durham, Matt Fox and Chad Gohman. Zach Weiss also qualified in the 50 freestyle with a first-place time of 21.00. He won the 100 freestyle as well (47.46).
Other winners for USD were: Robyn Chrissinger, 400 IM; Sarah Jansky, 200 freestyle, 100 freestyle; Kristy Healey, 100 butterfly; Brian Filipek, 200 freestyle; Justin Devlin, 100 breaststroke; Greg Perzinski, 1650 freestyle. The USD women won the 800 freestyle relay (8:01.03) and the 400 freestyle relay (3:42.32). Chrissinger also placed second in the 1,650 freestyle and the 200 breaststroke.
