USD women fall in weekend games South Dakota returns home playing host to North Dakota and North Dakota State this Friday and Saturday. The Coyotes are coming off road losses to Northern Colorado (67-48) and Nebraska-Omaha (66-50) last Saturday and Sunday. USD fell to 4-9 overall and 0-4 in the North Central Conference.
The Coyotes were held to 27.8 percent shooting in the Northern Colorado game, although USD outrebounded the Bears, 41-39. The Coyotes trailed only 29-23 at halftime and were outscored, 38-25, in the second half. Kelly Gese paced USD with 19 points. Bethany Koehler had 11 points and Alissa Koronkiewicz finished with seven, including a game-high 13 rebounds. Amy Heismeyer had five points with three apiece for Katrina Merrill and Maegan Prickett. The Bears shot 41.5 percent from the floor.
The Coyotes shot 50 percent in the first half against Nebraska-Omaha and trailed only, 32-30, at halftime. However, USD shot 33.3 percent in the second half and the Mavericks went on a 34-20 scoring run during the final 20 minutes. For the 11th time this season, Gese led the Coyotes in scoring with 23 points. Koehler collected 10 points and Maggie Gorman had a season-high eight points. Prickett and Lisa Daniels each had three points, while Koronkiewicz paced the Coyotes in rebounds for the ninth time with 10 boards. USD shot 41.7 percent to UNO's 42.2 and each team had 37 rebounds.
