Wilsons establish gift annuity A 1943 political science graduate of The University of South Dakota has made a major contribution to fund a charitable gift annuity within the USD Foundation. Allen Wilson and his wife Barbara of Hot Springs, created the annuity.
Charitable gift annuities are an increasingly popular giving instrument that allow contributors to maintain an income from their financial assets during their lifetime, yet receive a significant income tax deduction, according to USD Foundation President Ted Muenster. Annuity payment rates depend on the age of the contributors, among other factors, he said.
The Wilson's annuity remainder will fund a scholarship endowment for first year USD School of Law students who are graduates of the USD Department of Political Science in the College of Arts and Sciences.
