Austin announces incoming Coyotes University of South Dakota head football coach John Austin has announced that 20 student-athletes signed national letters of intent Feb. 3 to enroll at USD and participate in the Coyote football program beginning with the 1999 season.

The incoming Coyote class shows many strengths namely in the offensive line. Also, the segment reveals solid support

ranging from receivers, offensive backs, defensive linemen and linebackers.

In addition, the Coyote recruiting class reflects Austin's strong commitment in attracting the best athletes in the state of South Dakota.

"The greatest thing that I like about our recruiting class is the fact that these young Coyotes have a great work ethic," said Austin, who was named USD's 23rd head coach in December. "They all come from winning football programs which was very important to me. They are all kids who are hardworking and in order to be successful that's where it all starts. These kids know how to win.

"We addressed our immediate needs as far as recruiting offensive linemen," added Austin. "It was our intent to shore up the rank and file by recruiting as many offensive linemen as we possibly could. At the same time, we went out and tried to get the best athletes that we could find at the other positions."
