Clay Rural Water awards contracts The Clay Rural Water System of Wakonda has awarded seven contracts in conjunction with its Well/Control Project.

The proposed project will add a new well, building and replace and expand the water system control and monitoring system. The total project budget is $315,000. Completion is scheduled for July 1, 1999.

Financing for the project consists of a loan and grant from the USDA/Rural Development Agency, a grant from the Vermillion Basin Water Development District and water system funds.

The following contracts were awarded for construction of the project: Well � Sargent Irrigation, Inc., Broken Bow, NE: Control and Monitoring System � In-Control, Inc., Arden Hills, MN; Well House and Storage Building � Hybertson Masonry, Viborg; Building Mechanical � D.W. Proehl Construction, Inc., Sioux Falls; Building Electrical � Johnson Electric, Inc., Vermillion; Building Door � Alsen Building Specialitie's Beresford; Building Roof � Guarantee Roofing, Sioux Falls.

The Clay Rural Water System is a non-profit, member-owned corporation that supplies water service to 1,480 farms, residents and businesses in parts of five counties in southeast South Dakota. The water system has been operational since 1979 and annually delivers over 150 million gallons of quality water to its members.
