Driver's ed bill killed again by Andrea Skalland Driver�s education will not be required by the state of South Dakota.
The House failed a bill Feb. 16 that would have required students to take driver�s education before they could obtain a driver�s license.
Rep. Richard Brown, R-Sioux Falls, reintroduced HB 1067, a bill that would require all schools to offer driver�s education. The full House originally killed the bill.
�This is about public safety and saving the lives of young drivers,� Brown said.
The bill would have required that schools offer driver�s education. If a student did not take the course he could not receive his regular driver�s license until he was 18.
The bill failed to receive the required two-thirds majority vote. The vote was 36-33.
