Gymnasts end season with win The Tanager gymnasts defeated Wagner Feb. 1 evening by the score of the 109.8 for Vermillion to 99.8 for Wagner.
The Tanagers had solid bar performances with a season high score on bars of 27.9 points. The performance on floor was less than what the Tanagers desired, scoring only 24.8 points on floor.
The vault competition was very close between the two teams with Vermillion scoring 30.3, while Wagner scored 30.1. Balance beam competition rounded out the evening with the Tanagers scoring 26.4 points.
"I was pleased with certain aspects of the evening," stated Coach Mark Upward. "We still need to take our routines to the next level, but we need more confidence in our performances to do that,"
Tanager fans attending the meet were able to see Lynn Lewison compete her giant swings on the high bar for the first time. Other Tanager gymnasts performing well at the meet were Lauar Gors on beam and vault, Anne Dambowy on beam and all-around, and Terri Upward and Beth Pier on beam.
The Tanager junior varsity defeated Wagner in the J.V. contest 66.4 to 62.7.
The Tanagers host the Region 2A gymnastics meet at the High School on Friday, Feb. 5.
