Pork management meeting is Feb. 17 A pork management meeting will be held Wednesday, Feb. 17, at the Irene Community Hall.
The event is sponsored by the South Dakota State University Cooperative Extension Service.
Discussion of the livestock outlook, high oil corn, and an artificial insemination update will be given by Jeff Clapper and Bob Thaler, Extension swine specialists at SDSU.
Ann Schwartz of McKennan Hospital will speak on family stress, and Dan Swanda of First Dakota National Bank will discuss how to work with your banker. Diagnosing and evaluating farm financial stress and records will be discussed by Jack Davis, acting area farm management specialist of the SDSU Economics Department.
Burton Pflueger, Extension farm financial management specialist at SDSU will present risk management tools and contractual systems. Chris Chase, DVM in the SDSU Veterinary Science Department, will speak on evaluating production practices.
A North Central Marketing Co-op update will be given by Ron Nelson a producer from Wakonda, and Steve Schmeichel a producer from Hurley.
Registration is at 9:30 a.m. The meeting will adjourn at approximately 3:45 p.m.
