Tanagers end season with win in Flandreau Closing out their season on a winning note, the Vermillion Tanagers routed the Flandreau Indian School Indians 72-38 in boys basketball Feb. 20 at Flandreau.
Beau Blouin had 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Nick Hovden had 16 points and 5 rebounds.
The Tanagers jumped in front 15-4 at the end of the first period, led 29-10 after the second period, and then led 46-31 going into the final period.
The Tanagers forced 20 Flandreau turnovers to help the victory.
"For the final regular season game, the 5 seniors started and everybody had a chance to play and contribute to our success," said VHS Coach Troy Terronez.
VHS improved its record to 9-9, while Flandreau dropped to 4-17.
VHS connected on 5 of 19 three-point tries and sank 11 of 25 free throw tries. The Tanagers made 28 of 58 from the field, while Flandreau was 16 of 55 from the field. Flandreau sank 3 of 16 three-pointers and connected on 3 of 9 free throw attempts.
VHS held a 44-26 edge on the boards.
