USD dominates Graphic Edge It was all South Dakota at the Graphic Edge Open track and field meet held Saturday in the DakotaDome. The Coyotes registered 12 winning performances along with eight national qualifying marks.
Tom Green, who tied the school record in the 55 a week earlier at the Central Missouri State Invitational with a 6.32, assumed the top spot by himself with 6.31. Green also won the 200 in 22.10. The second school record to fall came in the 1,000 where Andrew Neugebauer bettered his own standard with a first-place time of 2:26.96.
The Coyote men had eight other winning efforts. They were: Chad Feeldy, one mile (4:12.93); Manuel Williams, long jump (23-10 1/2); John Kehoe, 400 (50.21); Matt Eckert, 500 (1:05.65); Noah Randles, 5,000 (15:05.23); Will Hardin, triple jump (48-1); Mike Gade, 3,000 (8:40.77); and the 4×400 relay, 3:19.72 (Williams, Eckert, Kehoe, Eric VanLaecken).
The USD women were led by Brandy Echternach who swept the weight throw (51-1) and shot put (44-5), while Tonya Kneifl took the high jump (5-7 1/4) and long jump (18-1).
The Coyotes had seven other winning events. They were: Sandy Pelkofer, pole vault (10-6); Stephanie Knight, 400 (57.64); Cori Verbeski, 500 (1:20.18); Molly Wedel, 800 (2:18.62); Krista Trei, 1,000 (3:00.64); Michelle Munsen, 200 (25.65); Michelle Mellegaard, triple jump (37-1 1/2); and the 4×400 relay, 3:58.15 (Trei, Knight, Patricia Goertz, Kelly Thompson).
