USD women drop NCC games South Dakota dropped two North Central Conference home games Jan. 29-30 with a 61-39 loss to Nebraska-Omaha and a 74-61 verdict to Northern Colorado.
The Coyotes were held to 25.4 shooting by Nebraska-Omaha, including 21.9 in the second half. UNO took a 30-20 halftime lead and then outscored the Coyotes, 31-19, in the second half.
USD was unable to convert from three-point range making just two of 21.
Kelly Gese paced the Coyotes with 13 points. Amy Heismeyer had 10 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Maegan Prickett and Maggie Gorman tallied five and four points, respectively.
UNO, which shot 33.8 percent, outrebounded the Coyotes, 59-34.
USD played Northern Colorado close for much of the game. The Coyotes, who trailed, 33-28 at halftime, faced a 43-40 deficit with 15:07 left in the game. UNC moved on top, 58-46, at the 7:36 mark before the Coyotes made another run, cutting the deficit to 62-55 with 3:40 remaining.
However, the Bears answered for a 14-point spread at 70-56 and eventually the win.
Gese topped the Coyotes again with 19 points. Heismeyer and Alissa Koronkiewicz followed with 11 points apiece.
USD, which shot 37.9 percent, was outrebounded, 45-29, led by Koronkiewicz with eight boards.
