USD women lose two on the road South Dakota took North Dakota State to the limit Feb. 5 before losing to the Bison, 58-51.
The Coyotes fell to North Dakota February 6, 90-56.
North Dakota State led the Coyotes at halftime, 30-26. In the second half, USD came within 42-40 on a basket by Amy Heismeyer. The Coyotes trailed only 51-49 with 2:11 remaining and again at 53-51 with 1:21 showing on Heismeyer's inside shots. But, the Bison held USD scoreless the rest of the way for the win.
The Coyotes outshot NDSU hitting 40 percent compared to 37.1 for the Bison. Heismeyer paced USD with 12 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Maegan Prickett had 9 points and Bethany Koehler scored 8. Katrina Merrill tallied 7 points with 6 apiece for Kelly Gese and Alissa Koronkiewicz. NDSU held a 46-32 rebounding advantage.
North Dakota opened up a 54-23 halftime lead over USD, before the Coyotes came back in the second half and were outscored only 36-33. USD shot 37 percent and the Coyotes were outrebounded, 48-31. Gese led USD with 23 points, followed by Prickett with 11 and Koronkiewicz with 6 and a team-high 6 rebounds.
