Baseball team wins against Charleston South Dakota posted its first baseball win of the season with a 10-7 verdict over Charleston (WV) University in a game played March 7 in Panama City, FL.

Sunday afternoon in Pensicola, FL, the Coyotes dropped a doubleheader to West Florida by the scores of 15-1 and 10-9. USD was limited to only one hit in the first game and that was a solo home run by Phil Gonyer in the second inning. West Florida banged out 15 hits with the loss going to Julio Jimenez, who was relieved by Mike Munzke in the third.
The Coyotes took a commanding 9-0 lead through four and one-half innings, but West Florida erupted for 7 runs in the bottom of the fourth and scored 3 more in the seventh for the come-from-behind win.
USD had 7 hits led by Dustin Moore, who went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles. Mike Laue, Brian Jensen and Adam Struck each had 2-run singles. Jeff LeMaster started for the Coyotes and he was relieved by Josh Wigley and Ryan Goodwin, who took the loss.
South Dakota opened its southern tour March 6 with a 6-2 loss to Marietta (OH) College. USD, which was hampered by 6 errors, finished with 6 hits paced by Phil Gonyer, who went 2-for-3 with 2 singles.
