Cattlemen meet in Vermillion Members of the Southeast South Dakota Cattlemen's Association held their 11th annual meeting recently at the Eagle's Club in Vermillion.
Special guests for the program included Tonya Ness, Kennebec, executive secretary and Clavin Sandmeier, Bowdle, president of the state cattlemen's association.
President Paul Jensen presented awards for Cattlemen of the Year to the Young Brothers, Larry and George Young, of Alcester. Agri-business of the Year recognition was presented to Tri-County Oil and Propane, Inc. of Irene, Daron Schenk, owner.
Special recognition was given to present SESD Cattlemen members whose fathers or grandfathers were charter members of the Clay County Livestock Feeders organization. The livestock feeders group was formed in March 1948.
Speaker for the evening was Col. John Phillips, WNAX radio market specialist. Phillips talked about the impact of market planning on cattle profitability.
