Child care conference scheduled March 27 The Dakotaland Child Care Providers and Parents Conference will be held Saturday, March 27 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Kelly Inn in Yankton. The event is sponsored by South Dakota State University Cooperative Extension Service and local child care providers.
The key-note address will be presented by Bill Campbell, SDSU Extension farm machinery and safety specialist on "Healthy Indoor Air for America's Homes."
According to Virginia Delvaux, Clay County Extension educator, 12 separate workshops will be held throughout the day in four sessions. Topics range from food safety to Character Counts; from oppositional behaviors in children to speech and language disorders.
Delvaux said the conference is designed to provide an informational outlet to day-care home providers and staff, pre-school staff, headstart staff, kindergarten teachers, home economics instructors and parents. Anyone who is interested in the lives of children is encouraged to attend.
Respective sessions are approved for one hour of in-service licensing requirements in South Dakota. The keynote address is also approved for one hour of in-service licensing requirements.
