John Hagemann to present Gunderson Lecture March 22 University of South Dakota Law Professor and Law Librarian John F. Hagemann will deliver the annual Gunderson Lecture on Monday, March 22 in the USD School of Law courtroom. Sponsored by the School of Law, the lecture will begin at 4 p.m.
Professor Hagemann, a member of the faculty of the USD School of Law since 1968, will address "Legal Education in South Dakota: The Gunderson Years." A reception will follow in the School of Law student lounge.
Hagemann, a native of Fort Atkinson, WI, received a bachelor of arts degree from Lawrence College in 1961 and a J.D from the University of Wisconsin in 1968. From 1961 to 1965, he taught Latin, Greek and English in the suburbs of Chicago. He has taught a wide variety of courses at USD. He currently teaches Legal Research, Jurisprudence and American Legal History. He also supervises the South Dakota Practice course.
Hagemann is a member of the Wisconsin and South Dakota Bars, serving on the Ethics and Evaluation of Judicial Candidates committees of the State Bar of South Dakota. He and his wife, Sharyn, reside in Vermillion.
The Gunderson Lecture Program honors Clark Y. Gunderson, a USD Law School graduate and later a faculty member for nearly 30 years. The lectureship is supported by a trust fund in the South Dakota Law School Foundation established principally by Gunderson's family.
