Approximately 20 area merchants and local independent business women will display their products and demonstrate their services during the afternoon. Women in attendance will be able to browse "to their hearts' content" while learning about many special ways in which to pamper and take care of themselves. Everything from candles and specialty coffees, massage, make up and clothing, and leisure time activities will be featured.
Free blood pressure screening and information on breast self-examination will be available. There will be door prize drawings and dessert and coffee will be served.
Proceeds from the "Pamper Yourself Saturday" will go to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in memory of Gregg Nygaard whose mother is a charter member of Theta Omega. As a child, Gregg raised money for the hospital riding in bike rides and participating in other ESA sponsored events for the benefit of the hospital. The chapter's goal is to be able to raise enough money to have a plaque dedicated to Gregg's memory placed in the hospital in Memphis, TN.
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is a research, treatment and education center where, working together, its physicians and scientists are striving to conquer catastrophic diseases in children. It is the only childhood cancer research center designated as such by the National Cancer Institute. It is non-sectarian, interracial, and open to patients admitted by physician referral and whose disease is under study at the hospital.
St. Jude Hospital's basic and clinical research findings and accomplishments are freely shared with all physicians and research scientists, extending the benefits of its work beyond its walls to children all over the country and throughout the world. There is no financial test for admission even if insurance is not available. Treatment at St. Jude Hospital will never be a financial burden on the family.
Tickets for the "Pamper Yourself Saturday" event are $8 and can be purchased from the Theta Omega members, at the door, or from Century 21, Cross Connection, Nook 'n Cranny, and the Vermillion Beauty Shop.
