Weather conditions were ideal Tuesday for employees of Johnson Roofing, Yankton, who have been busy recently replacing the roof on the building that once housed Dakota Hospital in Vermillion. The structure is still part of the Sioux Valley Vermillion Campus, but today the first two levels of the building are used for non-patient care services. The top level is leased to The University of South Dakota Health Services. Hospital administrator Larry Veitz said the old building's roof is over 30 years old, and recently it has become more and more challenging to keep moisture from seeping through. Veitz said the building is receiving a more modern style, membrane roof.
