Chilly weather cools scores at April 9 meet by Jim Prosser Seven members of the Vermillion varsity golf team played an 18 hole match with the Mitchell Kernels on Friday, April 9 at The Bluffs in Vermillion.
Weather conditions were cool, with temperatures in the low 50s, partly cloudy skies and a southeast wind blowing from 15 to 20 mph which had some effect on the scores. Mitchell shot 358, and Vermillion�s team total was 409.
Mitchell: Keri Meyerink (medalist), 84; Kim Anderson, 87; Amber Grivna, 93 and Tara Merkwan, 94.
Vermillion: Lynn Lewison, 95, Allison Stewart, 99, Teri Upward, 105 and Kelly Peterson, 110. Other VHS varsity players are Nina Joy, Tabitha Hubert and Jenny Merrigan.
The junior varsity played the front nine only. Final team scores were Vermillion, 234, Mitchell, 247.
Vermillion: Carrie Plate (medalist), 49, Stacy Wheelock, 59, Megan Deaver, 62 and Brooke Nelson, 64.
Mitchell: Aubre Clemens, 55, Susan Biggerstaff, 59, Laura Buche, 60 and Amber Juffer, 73. Other Vermillion junior varsity players are Hanna Walton and Kayla Widner.
The next home match on the Tanagers� schedule was scheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday, April 15, versus West Central at The Bluffs.
