Clark announces scholarships available to graduate students State Representative Judy Clark has announced the availability of a scholarship for individuals entering graduate study for the first time in the fall of 1999.
Four scholarships of $2,500 each will be awarded to persons pursuing an advanced degree in political science, public administration, public policy, law or a related field.
Sprint Corporation, in coordination with the Women's Network of the National Confer- ence of State Legislatures, will provide the scholarship funds.
The scholarships will be based on a variety of factors, including scholastic achievements, written statements by the applicant, community/school involvement and letters of recommend-
ation. Applications and supporting documentation are due no later than June 23, 1999, and are available through Sprints office at 1-800-796-3464.
"The Sprint and NCSL Women's Network graduate scholarship presents an outstanding financial leg up for someone beginning the long haul of graduate study," said Rep. Clark. "The $2,500 scholarships will help make graduate study and a career in public service a reality for four deserving students."
"Sprint is to be commended for its sponsorship of this effort. Sprint is taking action to enhance the effectiveness and quality of state government and I congratulate Sprint for its initiative." she added.
Rep. Clark is a member of the National Conference of State Legislature's Women's Network, which is coordinating the scholarship award with Sprint. Clark represents Clay and Turner counties and serves on the Appropriations Committee in the Legislature.
