Clubs Senior Citizen Center

Of the 21 bridge players at the Senior Citizens Center Wednesday, April 21, the following received prizes: High; Sarah Brown; second, Ernie Miller; third, Marlys Miller; blind bogie, Maurice Erickson and low, Luceal Liffengren.

There were 19 pitch, eight pinochle, and two skip-bo players. Refreshments were furnished by Dorothy Marcotte, Maxine Millette, Phyllis Prussa and Julia Cleland.

Men and women are welcome from 1 to 4 p.m., no reservations needed.

Vermillion Garden Club

The Vermillion Garden Club held its April meeting at the Vermillion Public Library April 15, at 7 p.m. Peg and Gus Miller were host and hostess for the evening. The program was a very entertaining and informative video titled Ruth Stout's Garden.

Plans were made for Arbor Day tree planting April 30 at 1 p.m. We will be planting a Dakota Centennial Ash at the W.H. Over Museum. Austin second-grade students and their teachers will be there to present an appropriate Arbor Day program. The public is welcome.

The Vermillion Garden Club plant sale will be Saturday, May 15 at 9 a.m. at the 4-H grounds.

The search for June "Yards of the Month" begins the last week of May.

Vermillion Odd Fellows and Rebekahs

The Vermillion Odd Fellow #3 hosted the annual Degree Rally on April 18 at 1 p.m. They had eight candidates from Vermillion, Huron, Elk Point and Gregory. Those from Vermillion who received the degree were: Paul Lilly, Arlan Aakre, Floyd Sebring and Adrian Aakre. There was a good crowd in attendance.

After the rally, a catered dinner was held for all.

Vermillion Rebekah Lodge #28 held their regular meeting April 20 at 7:30 p.m. with a pot luck supper at 6:30 p.m.

The meeting was opened with Ellen Jacobson as Noble Grand. Denise Caster, our assembly vice president, was introduced and welcomed. We had guests from Centerville, Sioux Falls, Sturgis and Belle Fourche. Our vice president gave a very inspiring talk and we enjoyed visiting with all our visitors.

Our next meeting will be May 11 and we will drape the Charter for two of our Rebekah members, Rossie Reyman and Lillian Brown at 7 p.m.
