Coyote softball team goes 2-3 in Morningside Tourney South Dakota's softball team closes out the month of April with three games this week.
The Coyotes, 28-23 overall, traveled to Augustana April 27 and Wayne State April 28, before entertaining Wayne State April 30.
The Coyotes are coming off a 2-3 record in the Morningside Tournament held April 24-25. USD opened with a 1-0 loss in eight innings to St. Cloud State before bouncing back for a 2-1 victory over South Dakota State.
USD finished pool play with a 4-1 setback to Minnesota-Duluth. In Sunday's single-elimination play the Coyotes posted a 4-0 win over Southwest State and then finished the tournament with a 6-0 loss to eventual champion Augustana.
Leading the Coyotes in the win over Southwest State was Erin Magel, who went 3-for-3. Jessica Bills had a single and a double and Maggie Gorman notched 2 singles.
Kristi Anderson paced USD's effort over South Dakota State with 2 doubles and Melanie Robotham connected for a pair of singles.
