Greek councils earn awards The University of South Dakota Panhelenlic (PHC) and Interfraternity (IFC) Councils earned several major regional awards at the 1998 Mid-American Greek Council Association (MGCA) Conference held recently in Chicago, IL.
The USD PHC applied for a total of eight possible Individual Programming Excellence (IPEA) awards, earning outstanding ratings in seven and achieving an overall excellence rating for all eight IPEA categories, winning the prestigious Sutherland Award for their size division. The USD IFC applied for three IPEA awards and earned the Community Service Award.
Margo West of Letcher, president of the USD PHC, and Kyle Neuberger of Watertown, president of the USD IFC accepted the award plaques on behalf of their respective councils. The PHC and IFC earned the awards based on outstanding programming, including membership recruitment, developing party policies, forming a public relations team, serving the disadvantaged at the Sioux Falls banquet and fielding 78 of the 79 dancers for the 1998 Dance Marathon, which raised $10,000 for the Children's Miracle Network, according to Greek Life Advisor Genevieve Evans Taylor.
