An elder Lakota man helped keep a tradition alive this weekend as he participated in the 27th annual University of South Dakota Wacipi, held Saturday and Sunday at the Vermillion High School gymnasium. The theme of the wacipi was "honoring our elders." The gymnasium was filled with hundreds of men, women and children of all ages. Many participated as dancers and their dress included traditional elements.
