Letters Daschle commends Neighborhood Watch

To the editor:

I would like to commend Sandy Heier and the residents of Gayville for their establishment of a Neighborhood Watch group.

These programs have proven to be an effective way to counter criminal activity. This is the type of pro-active step that people can take in order to preserve the quality of life that exists in their community.

The Neighborhood Watch concept works only because individuals and communities are willing to commit their time and energy to support the efforts of local law enforcement. I am confident that this program will have a positive impact on Gayville.

Again, I applaud the Gayville community for joining together and instituting a Neighborhood Watch.

Congratulations on successful pageant

To the editor:

Congratulations to the city of Vermillion on another successful Miss USD Scholarship Pageant. Hundreds of hours were contributed by civic minded men and women of Vermillion in connection with the production. To these people our whole hearted thanks. And to all the local businesses, your donations were appreciated.

The scholarship dollars raised make an enormous impact on paying for a college education. If you missed this excellent production, plan now to attend next year.

Good luck, Kendra; Hang in there

To the editor:

This is just a letter to say good luck to Kendra Gottsleben. Her story is touching and should inspire so many.

Every time I see Kendra she is always smiling and cheerful, that says a lot about her strength and the support of her family. You are in my thoughts and prayers Kendra ? Hang in there and be tough.
