The Bluffs Bulletin Board Senior Men's Golf
It must have been a Tuesday!! It was cold, damp and breezy, so naturally, the seniors were out at The Bluffs April 27 for more fun golf and good food � 28 of 'em!
There was a lot of scoring, mostly high, and while par was our objective, we had to be satisfied with scores of 38 to 42. Hole # 7 surrendered several astonishing putts: Ted VanBruggen made a 30 footer; Ray Lynn bettered that by five feet; but Ray DeVilbiss showed he hasn't lost his touch by sinking a 45 foot putt.
Winning teams were at 38, Dick Munkvold, Don Goebel, Jim Grabowski and Quentin Oleson (it took a four member team to get low score but Grabowski's 15 foot putt on #5 for birdie was significant since no birdies were reported by any other team).
There was a four-way tie at 39 � Atwell Stewart, Ray Lynn, Charlie Amant; Alan Clem, Ken Beringer, Ray DeVilbiss; Ron Brown, Bob Lund, Ray Mount; and Shorty Hanson, Don Mitchell and Maurice Erickson. Finally, a tie at 40 was decided by handicap hole for the last prize by Mel Marcotte, Max Anderson and Ted VanBruggen.
Next week, "Pross" promises a warm, dry, sunny day! Or else he won't participate (again). Lunch will be at 11:30 a.m., and the shotgun start will be at approximately 12:30 p.m.
All seniors in the territory are welcome to try their hand at Senior Men's Golf.
Morning Ladies Golf
The Morning Ladies Golf/Card Association will have its first 1999 get-together on May 5. Golfers will meet at 8 a.m., anyone who wants to golf just come on out. You don't need a team, you don't need a partner, golf clubs would come in handy, though!
Lunch is served at 12. At 1 p.m. following lunch and a "sometimes interesting" business meeting, bridge and pitch playing begins. You don't need a partner for that either and you don't even have to bring your own cards!
You can take part in golf, lunch or card playing � any or all of them. Hope to see you May 5 at The Bluffs.
