This is spring? The beams of light that cast an appealing glow every night on The University of South Dakota's Old Main building had an eerie effect Monday night, as rain that had been falling in Vermillion turned to snow as the temperature dropped. The beams of light that cast an appealing glow every night on The University of South Dakota's Old Main building had an eerie effect Monday night, as rain that had been falling in Vermillion turned to snow as the temperature dropped. The winter-like weather didn't last long, however. Tuesday was a day of bright sunshine and warmer temperatures. Lawns are beginning to turn green and the buds on trees are on the verge of opening with the transition from winter to spring in the Vermillion area.
