USD will offer several distance learning courses The University of South Dakota of Education will offer several courses to area residents via distance learning during the spring and summer of 1999.
These courses will be taught from the campus in Vermillion, but they can be taken in the distance learning classroom of any of the Southeast Interactive Long Distance Learning (SILDL) member schools. Members of the consortium are: Alcester/Hudson, Avon, Bon Homme, Beresford, Canton, Centerville, Children's Care Hospital and School, Gayville/Volin, Hurley, Irene, Parker, Viborg and Wakonda.
The courses to be offered are:
INED 410/510, Multi-Cultural Studies in Human Relations, 7:25-9:50 a.m., M-T-W-Th, May 10 through June 3. Available only in Canton, Beresford, Parker and Avon.
CGPS 742, Career and Life-Span Development, 1-3:25 p.m. M-T-W-Th, June 7 through July 1. Available at all sites.
AHED 710, Principals and Practices in Adult Education, 7:25-9:50 a.m., M-T-W-Th, June 7 through July 1. Available at all sites.
SPED 700, Education of the Exceptional Person, 3:30-6 p.m., M-T-W-Th, June 7 through July 1. Available at all sites.
Persons interested in taking one of these courses must meet prerequisites for the course, complete USD registration information and pay the associated tuition and fees.
If they are qualified to take the courses, they must contact their local high school principal or superintendent to arrange to be in the local distance learning classroom for the classes.
The SILDL is interested in sponsoring other adult education courses through the distance learning classrooms. Administrators in each of the member schools are prepared to transmit requests for courses to USD so interested persons should discuss their interests with their local administrators or they may contact Larry Lickfelt, SIDL coordinator at 605-677-5849 or by e-mail at email@example.com.
